Signs of a God Adventure

Our family lived in a remote fishing village in the Alaskan bush one summer back in 2005 and we have spent time there each summer since. That first summer was a refining summer for me (to put it lightly) and I didn't think we would ever return.
But God has a way of changing minds and hearts, doesn't He?

We ship materials into the village and the villagers enjoy using the empty tubs for hauling water, bathing children, storing clothes, and cleaning fish, among other uses. A new Target opened and these green beauties were $5.39 instead of $8.99. Woo-hoo!

I've been praying about themes for Bible School and other stuff AK-related, but I've felt like a lukewarm Christian lately. I don't really like persecution (at all) but being a lukewarm Christian is worse. SIGH.

"It must be understood that there are no nominal, halfhearted, lukewarm Christians in Russia or China. The price Christians pay is far too great. The next point to remember is that persecution has always produced a better Christian -- a witnessing Christian, a soul-winning Christian. Communist persecution has backfired and produced serious, dedicated Christians such as are rarely seen in free lands. These people cannot understand how anyone can be a Christian and not want to win every soul they meet."

-Richard Wurmbrand

Strong words for me to read on a Monday morning, but just what the Good Doctor ordered. And so I fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen (2 Cor 4:18)

Again.

Thank you, Lord, for being patient with me.

We just read about Wurmbrand as a family with our last "Voice of the Martyrs" magazine... what an amazing man, and an amazing quote.
Praying for your feelings of lukewarm- may you be on fire very shortly!!! xoxo

We here at our home doubt very strongly that you are a 'lukewarm Christian.'
Thank you for these insights into your Alaskan mission(s).
We hope you will continue to share your Alaskan experiences on your website.
An Alaskan memory: as I write these words, it is pouring down rain outside my window, and I am recalling that it rained a great deal during our visit to Alaska last summer. We mentioned to one of our guides, a naturalist, at how surprising all the rain was.
She replied that in Alaska the folks often refer to the rain as 'Liquid Sunshine'.
Again, thanks for your insights, both secular as well as religious.

You are my God-send. He is using you in many ways in my life. I often think about your posts even when I am not on the computer.

Lukewarm is where I feel I've been for a while. I hope you will continue to share your insights and I will join you on this journey.

Spectacular are your thoughts for my soul.
