by far the best parenting behavior I learned from my parents is
to LAUGH
because laughter really is the shortest distance between two people
even when hormones are raging...
even when the cell phone has to be confiscated...
even when the "First Communicant" begs you to put down your new camera...
even when there are 5 people in a galley kitchen at dinnertime...
even when the car gets stuck in the snow...
even when you have to clean up dog accidents...
Laughter
is
the
best
weapon
a
mother
has.
And I'm not afraid to use it.
Whoever said "never let them see you smile" was nuts. When all is said and done, there's nothing like a good belly laugh to ease the growing pains of a life.
a laugh is a smile that bursts!

Oh, I should have thought of this earlier today, when my dog puked twice, it started raining on my new shoes, my kids broke their expensive Christmas present, and the mound of laundry just seemed to grow instead of shrink.
I'll have my game on tomorrow.
What do your kids do when you start laughing?
Love it. I try and find the humor in most of it. Especially these days. Dog accidents.....still aren't funny. Puppy antics ~ now those CAN be funny! Swamped in school work ~ please be kind to your students ;)
great post, cathy!! love it! love the joy you exude!! :)
{sorry about the dog accident, tho}{and the car in the snow}{and the misbehavin' mr. or miss somebody} :)

These thoughts and pictures of yours are so perfect.
Nice to "meet" you .
and I am not a naturally laugh when things go wrong person, but you are right. And we need to teach our children to react to life's messes with a good attitude right?
