Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt cradles a young Iraqi girl as they both sleep in the hospital. The girl's entire family was executed by insurgents. The killers shot her in the head but she survived. The girl received treatment at the U.S. military hospital in Balad, but cries often. According to nurses at the facility, Chief Gebhardt is the only one who can calm down the girl, so he holds her at night while they both sleep in a chair. Chief Gebhardt was assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group at Balad Air Base, Iraq. (Courtesy Photo)

Thank you indeed. I am so excited that our own soldier/brother is in the process of coming home from spending 15 months in Iraq. Thank you doesn't seem adequate.....
Lifetimes ago Kipling also penned a 'Thank you' to a soldier, aka
'Tommy Atkins':
'I have made for you a song,
And it may be right or wrong,
But only you can tell me it it's true.
I have tried for to explain
Both your pleasure and your pain,
And, Thomas, here's by best respects to you!
O there'll surely come a day
When they'll give you all your pay,
And treat you as a Christian ought to do;
So, until that day comes round,
Heaven keep you safe and sound,
And, Thomas, here's by best respects to you!!
stops me cold and takes my breath. thanks for sharing.
xoxo
Sometimes we meet a real live angel, don't you think?
Praise God for all of those veterans.
