Notes

Hi

I've been wanting to ask you a question for awhile...

It's not a huge question

Just a simple little question, really

Do you like to hear music when you visit me?

Because music is really a big part of my life.

If you came to my brick and mortar home, music would sneak out my windows and greet you on the sidewalk

If I gave you a ride in my car

Music would already be riding with me

If you came to a party on our porch in the summertime

You would hear "porch music" playing as you opened our back gate

Music used to live here, too

But then I read a popular blogger and she basically said

"i hate music on blogs"

So I quieted the musicians and singers in my little box over there

Cuz sometimes I like silence, too

SILENCE

But that's not really me

So I'm playing a new song for you today

Won't you tell me, pretty please

Do you like to visit and listen with me...

Or do you prefer the silence?

Either way...we're still friends

I love it. Obviously I love it because I've never been without music on my blog. But... I do know that many do not care for it. It may be that they already have music of their own playing on their computer while they surf, making the introduction of someone's playlist unexpected/unwelcome, and they must then locate the music player on the blog's page to pause it. Or, if no music is already playing on their computer at home, but someone's blog playlist suddenly starts up unexpectedly as they open a blog, it startles some people -- and they must then hurriedly find their mute button on the keyboard. I've heard these and other reasons why their should be no music on our blogs... And I still have mine. ;)
I get more emails about how much people LOVE the music and really have never had even one comment or email saying they wished I didn't have it.
So, I'm sticking with it! ;)
Personally, I love music on blogs -- even if I don't care for a certain selection, it exposes me to something new that I might not have ever heard otherwise, and more importantly, it gives me a window into the "real" blogger behind the blog... the music we choose is so personal -- it tells as much about the person as the posts do.
That's my humble opinion. This, and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee. No, it probably won't. But thanks for listening, anyway!! :)
Happy Valentines Day to one big SWEETHEART of a friend!!! :)

Normally the volume is off on the computer while I'm on it, something about napping little ones??? I don't really care for music normally, but yours, well your music always seems to be just what I'd like to hear.

Did that clear anything up? Yeah, I didn't think so.

i normally don't care for music when i'm reading, but you make great choices... you've found me some of my favorites, in fact!

bottom line, you do what makes YOU happy. others have that silence button, anyway!! :)

Music is you, Cathy. You must keep it to be true to who you are. Play on, sweet music, play on!

Oh friend, please, please, please keep the music playing. I love hearing what inspires you in the moment and have added to my own itunes library from your selections. I am not one of those people who can easily match artist to song, but I am falling more and more in love with constant music myself. Keep the records playing!

I have read similar advice, and I can see where there might be some places where the music would be a distraction. That's why there is a pause button! :) I think the players do take pages a little longer to load, but why are we in such a hurry, anyway? I say Let there be music!

Your musical choices are generally superb - that is, in our opinion, most appropriate.
If someone finds music objectionable, there is always the volume control.

If it's a blog that requires concentration, such as mine 'cindysthoughtoutloud.blogspot.com' which is an indepth bible study God and I are walking thru, then no way is music a good thing. But when flitting through and discovering, absolutely the tunes you select are a great accompaniment. So, breeze on. You're doing it right, Sweetie~
